Editing icons on Figma
Thank you for stopping by to read this article.
Have you ever wanted to have your own assets or icons for your server with a color you want, but do not know how to change it, or your image loses quality? Well then, keep reading! I'll explain how you can customize the color of assets, using Figma. We'll be using this Discord resources media kit. You'll need a Figma account to be able to access the file.
Once you logged in or created your account, click on the button that says “Duplicate” to make your own copy of the file, which you will be able to edit. After you duplicate the file, you will see the same thing as in the image below.
Now, to edit and change the color of an icon, we need to find its file. Go to the left side and click on the arrow at the right side of the Content dropdown. Once you do it, you will be able to pick the category of the assets you want to edit.
For this example, I'll pick the DISCORD ICONS pack, but you can pick whatever you want. Once you select a pack, click the arrow on the left side to access the asset's files. Choose the icon you want to edit and zoom in so you can see it clearly.
After choosing your icon, go to the toolbar on the right, and scroll down until you see the option to change its color. Grab the HEX code you want and replace the one already set. With this you've successfully changed the color of your icon!
Now, if you want to download it, scroll down a bit further on the toolbar on your right side, until you see the export section. Open it and you'll be able to select the size of your icon as well as its format (.png, .svg, .jpg or .pdf). You'll be able to see a preview of your asset before downloading it. When you're ready, just hit the Export [your_asset's_name] button and choose a location where the file will appear once downloaded. With this, you've managed to customize your own icon!
